Parliament is conducting a Workshop on Parliamentary Documentation, Ethics and Etiquette for the NC/NA Secretariat staff in two cohorts from 16-27 March 2026 with financial support from the EU

The first cohort is being conducted from 16-20 March 2026 at Tashi Namgay Grand, Phuentsholing. The second cohort will be from 23-27 March 2026. The workshop is designed to sharpen the staff's skills, such as agenda setting, resolution drafting, letter writing, report drafting, and professional ethics.

On the third day of the workshop, the Hon’ble Speaker met with the participants attending the first cohort. He advised the participants to make the best use of the opportunity to enhance their professional knowledge and skill.

The Speaker also highlighted the importance of strengthening competencies in minute-taking, report writing, filing, agenda setting, and providing technical and research support, noting that such skills contribute significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of parliamentary proceedings.

The workshop is being facilitated by Mr. Lotey Gyeltshen, Language Specialist; Mr. Sonam Gyeltshen, Chief Programme Officer and Mr. Tenzin Namgay, Deputy Chief Research Officer; from the National Assembly Secretariat, along with Mr. Phuentsho Wangdi, Senior Language Development Officer from the National Council Secretariat. Key areas of focus include parliamentary agenda formulation, resolution formats, motions, sequencing of business, official correspondence, drafting agreements, translation mechanisms, transcription, and international standards of report writing, with the objective of standardizing parliamentary documentation practices.

The workshop is organized with support from the Nyamdrel II: Support to Parliament and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Project, implemented by International IDEA and funded by the European Union.

This initiative is expected to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance the professional competencies of parliamentary Secretariat staff. The second cohort of the workshop is scheduled to be conducted from 23 March to 27 March 2026 at the same venue.
