Parliament Conducts Three-Day Sensitization Workshop on Parliament and Parliamentary Procedures to Civil Society Organizations and Media

A three-day sensitization workshop on Parliamentary Procedures to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and media is currently being conducted from 1–3 April 2025 at Haa Heritage Hotel, Haa to enhance understanding of parliamentary procedures and strengthen collaboration between Parliament, CSOs and Media.

The opening of the workshop was graced by the Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Hon’ble Member from Bji–Kar Tshog Uesu and Hon’ble Dzongdag of Haa Dzongkhag.

On the first day of the workshop, the Hon’ble Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly delivered an overview of the evolution of Bhutan’s parliamentary system, while the Senior Legislative Officer of the National Assembly presented on the legislative procedures. The following two days will focus on discussions on Parliament–CSO and media engagement and deliberations on strengthening collaboration.

The Hon’ble Deputy Speaker underscored the critical role of Parliament, the media, and CSOs as key drivers of a vibrant democracy, emphasizing the need for more structured and effective collaboration. He also shared practical examples of successful outcomes achieved through strong partnerships among governments, media, and CSOs in various countries.

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of collectively transforming our disadvantages into continuing advantages, enhancing our global relevance, and at the same time, achieving the priorities that matter most to our people.

The objective of this workshop is to build a better understanding of the parliamentary processes and to create a platform for dialogue, exchange of experiences, and exploration of practical ways to strengthen engagement and cooperation.
