
Action Taken Report on Support Measures for Arts Students of Academic Year 2023
26 May 2026The Education and Skills Development Minister informed the House that the Government has allocated a total budget of Nu. 237.5 million to support 395 Arts students who were unable to pursue tertiary education in 2022-2023 due to government policy under the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. According to the Minister, the allocation primarily benefits 385 students enrolled at the Samtse, Paro Colleges of Education where a sum of Nu. 164.6 million has been allocated. In addition, 10 students enrolled at the Royal Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (RITH) have been allocated Nu. 72.9 million. In addition the government continues to provide support in terms of education loan and employment opportunities. The report was presented as part of the government’s response to concerns raised regarding the need for a separate budget and support measures for affected Arts students.
