28 January 2026𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐫𝐚𝐧 On 25 January, the Bhutanese delegation held a bilateral meeting with the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, focusing on familiarization between the two parliaments. His Excellency the Speaker briefed the Iranian delegation on Bhutan’s Parliamentary system of Government – the Constitutional Democratic Monarchy – and the structural set up of the parliament. Besides, both sides recognized and exchanged views on emerging regional and global issues, peace, and stability. The Iranian delegation extended an invitation for a future parliamentary visit, and the meeting concluded on a positive note.
𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: On 26 January 2026, the Bhutanese delegation held a bilateral meeting with the delegation of the United Arab Emirates, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. The Hon’ble Speaker shared insights on the Gelephu Mindfulness City and apprised the delegates on adoption of Abu Dhabi laws under GMC in alignment with the global norms and standards. Discussions also covered the commencement of air services, the growing number of UAE tourists visiting Bhutan, and the forthcoming establishment of a Bhutanese Consulate General in Abu Dhabi, and prospects for trade cooperation and future collaboration. The UAE delegates expressed interest in visiting Bhutan.

His Excellency the speaker expressed gratitude for conferring Honorary Doctorate to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen by Chulalongkorn University.
Noting the existence of a parliamentary friendship group between Bhutan and Thailand; both sides agreed to strengthen the Parliamentary Friendship Group and also explore for implementation of student exchange programmes. The Hon’ble Speaker also shared updates on the recent ratification of free trade agreement between two countries and apprised the delegates on Gelephu Mindfulness City — a special concept pioneered by His Majesty the King. The Thai delegation expressed their kind wishes for the continued success of Bhutan. The delegation is scheduled to return on 29 January 2025 after an overnight halt at the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in New Delhi.
