14 May 2026Hon’ble Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, along with the delegation from the Bhutan-India Friendship group, called on the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan.
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on the longstanding friendship and close parliamentary cooperation between Bhutan and India. They reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties founded on mutual trust, shared democratic values, and the enduring people-to-people relationship between the two neighbouring countries.
The Speaker also highlighted the support extended by India in the capacity-building of the National Assembly Secretariat staff and expressed his hope for further strengthening the close relations and cooperation between the parliaments of Bhutan and India.
The Speaker conveyed appreciation for the continued support and collaboration between the parliaments of Bhutan and India. The visit is expected to further strengthen parliamentary engagement and deepen the historic friendship between the two nations.
The delegation is on a three-day official visit to Bhutan from 13 to 15 May 2026.
