Parliamentarians Participate in Samtenling Stream Cleaning Programme and Sign Joint Commitment on River Protection
06 June 2026In observance of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s Birthday and World Environment Day, Members of Parliament from the National Assembly and National Council participated in the Samtenling Stream Cleaning Programme at Jungshina, Thimphu.
Prior to the cleaning activities, parliamentarians from both Houses signed a Joint Commitment and Assurance on the Protection and Cleanliness of Rivers and Streams, reaffirming their collective pledge to safeguard Bhutan’s water bodies and support environmental conservation efforts.
Led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Speaker of the National Assembly, the Hon’ble Chairperson of the National Council, and the Hon’ble Leader of the Opposition, participants carried out stream-cleaning activities aimed at improving the cleanliness of the surrounding environment.
The programme reflected the collective commitment of the parliamentarians to environmental stewardship and the preservation of Bhutan’s natural heritage for future generations.
