30 May 2026The National Assembly of Bhutan today adopted the Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2026 with all the 45 Members voting and present voting in favour of the Bill.
The Bill expands GST exemptions under Schedule IV C of the GST Act to include essential commodities and social welfare items such as rice, edible oils, salt products, hygiene products, wheelchairs, and assistive devices for persons with disabilities. The amendment also includes butter and other fats and oils derived from milk under the exemption schedule.
The Bill will be transmitted to the National Council for further consideration in accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly of Bhutan.
