The Speaker, Lungten Dorji, visited Tsirang Dzongkhag from 8 to 9 January 2026 to engage with local government officials, regional heads, and sector heads.

The discussions focused on the functioning of local governments, service delivery mechanisms, and the implementation of development programmes. These interactions provided an opportunity to deliberate on issues and challenges faced at the local level and to reinforce coordination between national and local institutions.

As part of the visit, the Speaker also visited Barshong, Mendrelgang, and Phuentenchu Gewogs, where engagements were held with Gewog officials and local representatives. The visits provided first-hand insights into ongoing developmental activities, local priorities, and challenges at the grassroots level.

While interacting with officials and representatives of local governments, the Speaker emphasized the importance of accountable and responsive governance, effective implementation of development initiatives, and continued cooperation among all stakeholders in advancing the socio-economic development of the Dzongkhag.

Members of Parliament, including the Member from Kilkhorthang–Mendrelgang Constituency, Member from Tsirang Dzongkhag and the Member from Sergithang–Tsirang Toed Constituency, along with officials from the Dzongkhag, accompanied the visit. In the coming days, the Speaker will visit Dagana Dzongkhag to undertake similar engagements.
